COACHING SESSIONS: are conducted in person, over the phone or on Skype. Art has saved Lisa life many times. She brings over ten plus years of art and healing teaching/mentoring with At-Risk populations. Working deeply with severely emotionally and physically traumatized youth . Lisa holds an MFA in Arts and Consciousness from JFK University in Berkeley, California. She is an artist, educator, curator and art advocate who believes that art can change and heal the world. A key conceptual element of her artistic process is the study of and travel to ancient cultures and sacred sites around the world. Rasmussen serves as Executive Director and Co-Founder of Art 4 All People and AY Atelier Art, an international Center for arts and consciousness in Malibu, California. As well as the Executive Director and Co-Founder of the non-profit Art is Moving and Art Break Day.

June 1, 2016 I began my journey into a healthier and happy me. At the moment I began committed to losing weight. Within 10 months I had lost 47 pounds and I have learned to kept it off. Through out my own journey of losing weight and healing wounds, I have developed a creative and holistic weight loss program. In this program you will not only lose weight, but you will develop tools for personal and creative transformation.You will also shed toxic emotions through shadow work and create alchemic art!
Here is what I learned through this journey of health, art, and healing ....
It has actually been a really fun ride and have not felt deprived of the food and drink that I love.
I began with setting my intention, planning my meals, exercise, and signing up for the Weight Watchers program- using the point system. Just to get an idea of how much food intake I could have. Then I had the courage to weigh myself and I was in disbelief.
Aside and not so a funny thing is like a lot of girls/women for my entire life I had always thought I was overweight/not perfect. In actuality I was really fit and slim. I was a tennis player, who was the number one singles player on the varsity team in high school. I was a hypersensitive, shy kid and my body image was horrific. I remember the first time I began to self loath, I was in 6th grade it was right after gym class and I was in the locker room. I looked down at my thigh and was in pure disgust. I said internally, you are so fat. From then on I had a distorted view of myself.
When I turned fourteen, I bought into the illusion of beauty and I decided that I had to look exactly like those girls who were on the cover of Seventeen. I began drastically dieting, starving, and running during those years and the scale became my enemy. I was a never ending cycle of harsh critical judgement and total non self-acceptance. In my 30’s, I decided I could bear the pain of weigh myself. It was so loaded with self hate and it was to much of toxic thing. That totally backfired on me as I began to balloon. Then I was in total denial, never buying anything over a size ten. At my highest weight I thought I could never ever go back to the weight I was. I thought there was no HOPE!
Here are some things I discovered:
- Pre coffee, the first I do is a water therapy cocktail with one tablespoon or so with Braggs “the mother” apple cider vinegar.
- For me it was imperative to exercise before I ate breakfast, to activate the metab. So blessed I am that I can do 4 miles hikes on the Beach in Santa Monica. That has become my daily practice & exercise for me. A fitbit helps to track the steps and to reach my 10,000 step goal.
- In terms of food, I eat a lot veggies ~ usually veggies dominant myplate. We have amazing farmers markets in Santa Monica. So I have an abundance of farm to the table. I totally make my food like it is Art ~ Food Art using lots veggies rich in color and spices. To create a delight for all my senses. I never denied myself anything I craved and I had binge days. As well as I ate little processed food.
- Another key is the scale is my friend, I weigh myself everyday. I also set up a reward system for myself when I reached certain milestone. I gift myself amazing things for reaching my goals. Most importantly if I pigged out I weighed myself the next day. Accountability is key.
- Losing weight is totally not a linear process. You go up, down, spiral out, then woosh!!! For example for me I was at one weight for days & days and thought that I could not lose weight. Then boom the woosh comes, it is how the body loses weight.
- Throughout this process I have had many binge days. Eating out at buffets etc… In this process I have never denied myself anything. I have treated myself very kind.
- Reality & perspective check, I have a cat family and their litter we buy at the store is about 20 pounds. I was literally carrying around two + of those since I moved to LA. It is not an easy task….. If you are inclined try it.
- Lastly, enjoy each moment, savor in making choices that make you more healthy & radiant. If I can do it, you can do it! Cherish the journey into healthy habits! Have fun on your adventure of shedding!
